New Nets Construction Update
The club is now preparing for the construction of new nets. We are building three nets on the site of the old nets but swung round by 45 degrees so that the sun is not directly behind the batsman in the evening.
Bourne Homes, a local company developing houses, is preparing the area at no cost to the club and the nets will be constructed by Club Turf. It is expected that the nets will be completed by the end of November.
Grants have been received from Sport England (£10k), Lords Taverners (£3k) and Surrey Community Federation (£3k) against a total cost of £24.5k. The balance is being found out of club funds including £2k from the Youth.
The next project is to extend the club room forward and provide an internal ladies’ toilet and a store are amongst other improvements. The first part of this is expected to cost £30k of which the club has £11k in its accounts and the Youth is putting in £4k so we are well on the way to fund this. However there will be fund raising events next year to enable work to commence after next season.
Drawings for this have been shown at an AGM but will be made available when plans are further advanced.
